Lake Barcis and its green-celestial water forms a mirror that reflects the sky and mountains. A unique spectacle, especially on beautiful sunny days. This is the heart of Valcellina, an artificial lake that was created for the exploitation of hydroelectric power with the water of the Cellina stream. As well as being an important tourist attraction in the valley, important national and international sporting events take place here every year.

Locations and hamlets

The municipality of Barcis is located 34 km away from Pordenone and 68 km from Udine, on the shores of the lake that takes its name. These are positioned on a hollow formed to the east by the mountains. Raut (2,026 m) and Fara (1,342 m), north of Mount Resettùm (2,067 m), to the west from the mountains Naked Crep (2,207 m) and Messer (2,230 m) to the south from the mountains Cavallo (2,251 m) and Cjastelât (1.641 m). The municipality consists of 16 hamlets: Arcola, Armasio, Cimacosta, Fontane, Guata, Losie, Mighet, Molassa, Pentina, Pezzeda, Ponte Antoi, Portuz, Predaia, Ribe, Roppe, Vale and the inhabitants are called “barciani”.

How to get to Barcis

Cars
From the A4 motorway take the Portogruaro exit and then exit again in Pordenone. Continue along the SP19 or SP29, heading towards Montereale Valcellina. Once you arrive in Montereale, continue on the SR251 towards Barcis.

Buses
Departures from the Pordenone Bus Station adjacent to the central train station, take Pordenone-Maniago-Claut line.

Train
The nearest train station is Montereale Valcellina.
Sacile-Gemona line: at the train station in Sacile take the regional train that leads to Maniago station. Possibility of bicycle transport.

Plane
The nearest airports are: Ronchi of the Legionnaires (Trieste), A. Canova (Treviso), San Marco Polo (Venice)
